Meet the Doctor

Dr. Peter Kampf

Dr. Peter Kampf

Dr. Peter R. Kampf is the founder of NorthStar Implant Dentistry and one of the New York metropolitan area's most experienced and versatile dental surgeons. With over three decades of clinical practice, Dr. Kampf has built a reputation for exceptional surgical skill, meticulous attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to transforming the lives of his patients — one smile at a time.

Dr. Kampf graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry in 1992, the same class as his longtime colleagues and NorthStar associates Dr. Elisa Nelson and Dr. Agnes Nadrag. Following dental school, he pursued advanced postgraduate training as a post-doctoral fellow and resident in oral surgery and hospital dentistry at the Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center — now NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Irving Medical Center — one of the most prestigious academic medical institutions in the United States. This rigorous hospital-based training gave Dr. Kampf extensive experience in the medical and surgical management of complex patients, knowledge that continues to inform his approach to care. As research increasingly demonstrates the deep connection between oral health and systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and sleep disorders, Dr. Kampf's broad medical foundation sets him apart from surgeons with purely dental training.

After Columbia, Dr. Kampf pursued additional advanced surgical training at Brookdale Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he deepened his expertise in dental implants, bone grafting, bone regenerative techniques, and full mouth reconstruction utilizing multiple modalities of dental implants. This second residency solidified his focus on implant surgery and complex oral rehabilitation — the clinical foundation upon which NorthStar Implant Dentistry was built.

Dr. Kampf's clinical interests span the full spectrum of advanced implant dentistry and oral surgery. He has developed particular expertise in complex and specialized implant solutions — including zygomatic and remote anchorage implants for patients who have been told they cannot receive conventional implants due to severe bone loss. He is among a select group of practitioners nationwide with the training and experience to offer these life-changing solutions to patients who have been turned away elsewhere. His other areas of focus include complex oral rehabilitation and full mouth reconstruction, oral medicine, atypical facial pain, trigeminal neuralgia, TMJ syndromes, and sleep apnea — reflecting a scope of practice that goes far beyond routine implant placement.

Recognized by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry — whose emblem he proudly wears on his lab coat — Dr. Kampf is a member of this prestigious organization, which has been the credentialing standard for implant dentistry since 1951. His membership reflects not only his surgical credentials but his ongoing commitment to advancing his knowledge and skills in a rapidly evolving field.

Beyond his surgical practice, Dr. Kampf brings a deeply human dimension to his work. Patients consistently describe him as kind, thorough, calm under pressure, and genuinely invested in their well-being. He takes the time to listen, to explain, and to ensure that every patient — regardless of the complexity of their situation — feels informed, respected, and cared for. At NorthStar, his vision is simple: to guide patients to the best possible outcomes with honesty, precision, and compassion.
