The Process
What to Expect
The evaluation begins with a thorough clinical examination of your oral tissues, including the lips, tongue, cheeks, gums, palate, and floor of the mouth. If a lesion or abnormality is identified that warrants further investigation, a biopsy is recommended. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and typically takes only a few minutes. A small tissue sample is carefully excised and sent to a board-certified oral pathologist for analysis.
